Idea for drippy ruffles

Love the scarves! perfect for this weather! Just a quick thought - what about something like this?
Or even triple cloth ruffles with uneven finishes? The sketches aren't great - sorry! You could do the ruffles in something heavy like rayon or tencel - there's some nice tencel coming out of New Zealand at the moment - about a 4ply.

hmm, looking at that sketch now, looks a bit like a fishy tale!

Ruffles for Lacriox

I have just taken a scarf of the loom and had a nice surprise I have ruffles! It now has me thinking, how can I make them drippy ruffles? Colour is easy but now bigger ruffles and texture and pattern. How theres a challenge.

What is it that draws you to lacroix?

I need to do some more thinking before I answer the first few questions, so I'll just attempt to answer the last one first.

Lacroix makes me remember that I can and need to dream and laugh and feel overwelmed; be seduced by the frivolity of fantasy.

His fabrics drip with opulence and uber elegance; abundance and gloss; colour and mood; incomparable extraordinary irreverence of imagination.

It reminds me of when I was 10 and would stay up all night playing with a piece of fabric in the mirror and imagining I was some-thing/-where else.

Play and fantasy are for big girls too.

I think that's the beginning of an answer ;)

My question is?

How can a weaver or two weavers/textile artists answer the question lacroix sweetie? If we were to look at Lacroix the wonderful man of colour, texture and pattern how would you or should we respond?

What are your thoughts, where would you start? What is it that draws you to lacroix?

My answer is first it's colour and then pattern.

Fungi Sketches

These are a few pen sketches of detailed areas of a couple of types of fungi

and a little collage I was playing with based on the sketches. I'm thinking of trying to make a vessel of some sort out of them, but I need to work more on the joining/construction method.

Sketches

Ok, so I haven't been doing so much weaving over this past month, but I have been doing a little sketching. These pen images are from a day when I climbed a local mountain and sat there for a few hours.

The drying rack

The two pieces have been wash and are drying hanging on my magnolia tree! It will be interesting when they are dry and I think I will have to put a tied fringe on them I would rather not as I don't like them but there doesn't seem to be any grip in the wool to stop it from unravelling it.

Scarf number two

Well the second scarf is almost woven and I have to say I am not happy with either. The wool is to harsh and not pleasant to weave so a bit of a waste of time and resources. Well we live and learn, I was in such a hurry just to weave something and didn't do enough planning, so one must pay for ones mistakes!
